Important Information about the adoption
process
- Our textbook buyers rely on the information provided by academics
as the basis for stocking textbooks required by your students. Without
current and relevant information we are unable to pre-stock textbooks to
avoid potential delays for students.
- We do not automatically re-order
textbooks from previous years. You must confirm the textbook
requirements for each year/semester required (with current enrolment
estimates) before the bookshop is able to place orders with publishers.
- Our suppliers enforce cut-off dates for
freight-free supply of international textbooks
into our stores. Adoptions submitted
after these dates may incur airfreight charges in order to secure stock
in time for the beginning of semester. Airfreight costs are part of the
cost of stocking textbooks, leading to higher retail prices for
those items.
- Our aim is to provide sufficient initial stock to cover all
anticipated student
demand for each textbook, whilst minimising the quantity of
returns/unsold stock. Most suppliers restrict the quantity of stock we
can return, and some titles cannot be returned. These conditions inform
our initial buying patterns accordingly.
- It is important you identify yourself fully and enter
a valid email address, otherwise there
may be delays in processing your adoption.
- We welcome information about subjects which do not
have any textbook requirements. This allows us
to confirm for students if a course has no prescribed textbooks.

Reader materials
If you would like course readers to be made available for sale to
students through the bookshop, we require a bookshop barcode to be
attached to the master copy before printing. This allows us to get the
readers on the shelf as soon as possible when they
arrive in-store. Please contact Sandra Gausden on 9663 5855 ext 111 to arrange
a barcode prior to submission of the print job.
RMIT Bookshop does not prepare or print the materials for course reader
packs.
Printing of course readers is provided through
RMIT Print Services .
